A Case Study of Development Strategies on Offshore Securities Unit / 國際證券業務發展策略之個案研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣科技大學 / 財務金融研究所 / 104 / The study focuses on securities subsidiaries of financial holding company. It will examine the business strategy of securities firms for its Offshore Securities Unit (Retail Brokerage & Wealth Management and Equity Derivative business) in a highly competitive domestic market, and the measures to be taken in face of challenges.
Conclusions: 1. For developing OSU business, a Steering Committee was be set up. The goal is to take the lead in OSU business in TW. 2. Through OSU business, participating in international underwriting business; developing derivative financial products with attractive returns and offering diversified financial instruments to clients can be achieved. 3. By convincing Regulators to impose less restriction on the OSU business and cooperating with other securities firms for product selling, OSU business can be greatly expanded.
Future Planning: Its futures goal is to accelerating OSU system development and integration; taking advantage of the Asia-Pacific regional platform for business expansion and continuing convincing Regulators to allow more participants and financial products to be involved in OSU business.
Suggestion: Non-residents should be allowed to purchase structured products with ISN Code on the OTC trading platform ; Expanding the product scope with reduced supervision by Regulator are suggested for enhancing the international competitiveness ; For improving the capita efficiency, funds in the OSU account custody should be allow to save in term deposit ; Account opening procedures should be simplified to enhance the efficiency.
