碩士 / 國立臺灣科技大學 / 財務金融研究所 / 104 / For Taiwanese enterprises in Mainland China, in addition to running the business, the
major concerns are always about monetary issues, such as financing, deposits
deployment, fund procurement, capital investment, trade settlement, overseas debt
limits, foreign exchange control, cross-border funds movement, etc., and massive
relatives laws and regulations make these issues even more complicated. Owing to the
cross-border business mode, smoothing cross-border banking activities turns out much
more important for most Taiwanese enterprises, meanwhile it also creates the business
opportunities for Taiwanese banks.
In principle, under the circumstance of trivial regulations and highly-regulated foreign
exchange system, ruling of man is still the common phenomenon. Even though, keeping
up the Joneses pushes the authority keeping duplicating the systems and modes of
international financial centers in Mainland China, which puts the market is in the throes
of transparency and stability during the period of transformation. Facing severe
competition in investment banking and cross-borders banking from western bankers,
Taiwanese financial institutions need innovative strategies to create their own niche
market.
Fortunately the establishment of Free Trade Area in Shanghai creates a new window to
financial institutions. There are 4 goals regarding financial reform in the Area: the
internationalization of RMB, free entry of financial markets, deregulation of foreign
exchange rates and interest rates and mobility of capital. In order to take advantage of
these changes and enhance competitive edge, Taiwanese financial institutions should
be devoted to delivering new financial products to differentiate themselves from other
banks.
In this research, we suggest that based on the deregulation of Free Trade Area, the
combination of superior capability of creativity and risk management relative to local
banks and overseas branches deployment may offer great opportunity for Taiwanese
banks to meet the needs of cross-border fund procurement of Taiwanese enterprises,
meanwhile explore a new commercial mode for themselves.
