碩士 / 東吳大學 / 經濟學系 / 104 / With China’s burgeoning economy, multinational corporations have been deploying in Asian countries at a faster pace and placing a great emphasis on them. Logistics industry, playing a pivotal role in driving economic growth and improvement, is an indispensable industry in an economy. It turns out be a radical issue for logistics industry in Asia on how to enhance integration within chain and business performance seeing that the economic rise of China boosts the economic development of Asia and more frequent commerce among countries.
This study targets at 72 listed companies in Asia’s transportation and logistics industries operated in 2014. These companies, firstly classified by region, comprise three main sections which are China, Japan and Southeast Asia (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia). They are subcategorized based on their type of industry, year of establishment and business scope. This study adopts the DEA efficiency framework to evaluate the business performance of logistic industry in Asia along with four input variables (accounts receivable, operating expenses, fixed assets and number of employees) and two outputs (revenues and net Income). CCR model and cross efficiency measure (CEM) are applied in this study in order to examine the overall business performance of sample logistics industries in Asia.
The results revealed that the outcomes of business performance evaluation hinges upon the observational roles of commentators from CCR model index analysis and CEM. Companies with the lowest quantile scale tend to have the best performance, whereas companies founded in earlier dates tend to have lower efficiency.
