IV. Problems encountered when developing the curriculum and solutions
4-1 Problems in course development
4-1-1 When planning the course of all levels, the problems the researcher encountered included the insufficient data, lack of painting skills among school teachers, and long working hours on the part of teachers. To deal with these problems, the researcher interviewed the residents, asked for advice from experts and reallocated the teaching activities based on teachers’ abilities.
4-1-2 To ease the loading on the teachers, it is suggested that all the teachers can be divided into small groups, each of which is in charge of the lesson plans of different levels.
4-1-3 To better prepare the school-based curriculum, it is practical to counsel more capable experts and perform team-teaching.
4-1-4 Several professors were invited to this school to provide timely assistance for the teachers who lacked a clear concept about the school-based curriculum .
4-2 Problems in course execution
While teaching, some teachers encountered a couple of questions, which included the insufficient preparation before the class, the insufficient training of students’ literacy, no continuity between courses, the lack of supports from students’ parents as well as the lack of timely administrative supports. To solve the above-mentioned problems, the school may first spend time designing main courses and pre-requisite courses, then seek supports from students’ parents and cultivate students’ literacy.
