碩士 / 臺北市立大學 / 運動科學研究所 / 104 / Purpose: We can see a lot of beverages with sugar (ex, carbonated drinks, tea, coffee, juice…and so on) in the market. Because convenient stores can be found everywhere, sugared beverages become the choice of allaying people’s thirst. Many previous studies showed that the sugared beverages brought about harmful affections, such as chronic disease and obesity. This study aimed to investigate that if the deep-ocean water can prevent the harmful affections from the sugared beverages.
Method: The 6-month-old mice were grouped into control group, fructose group, deep-ocean water group and deep-ocean water with fructose group. They were fed with pure water (filtered from 3M filtered system), 11% fructose solution, deep-ocean water and deep-ocean water with 11% fructose respectively. The physical activity and body composition were measured in the 12th month and 18th month.
Result: The 12th month physical activity measurement of male mice’s revealed that the deep-ocean water and deep-ocean water with fructose groups stood for a longer time than the control and fructose groups. The survival curve of 18-month-old mice showed that the mice’s survival rate of fructose group was lower than the other three groups (control, deep-ocean water, deep-ocean water with fructose), but the survival rate of deep-ocean water with fructose group is close to the control and deep-ocean water groups. The 12th and 18th body composition measurement found the fructose and deep-ocean water with fructose groups had higher bone mass, fat mass and body fat mass percentage than the control and deep-ocean water groups.
Conclusion: Long-term supplement of fructose can decrease the survival rate. Addition of deep-ocean water can ease off the effect. On the other hand, deep-ocean water can increase the standing time of physical activity, but not influence on the body composition.
