Her father died when she was thirteen. She must help her mother take care of her younger brothers and sisters in Beijing. After the war, the Lin's own family returned to Taiwan. Because of her father's encouragement and mother's toughness, this experience did not make her vulnerable. The family is always filled atmosphere of concern. This feeling also affeck the works. She is good at describing women, marriage and family. The stories mostly misery. But after reading "Memories of Peking: South Side Stories", I felt a sense of hope. I would like to know if there is any sprit of "the True,the Good and the Beautiful" in the novel "Memories of Peking: South Side Stories" .
The study investigates the novel "Memories of Peking: South Side Stories" We can discern "true" of "Memories of Peking: South Side Stories"--children's perspectives and dialogue; "good" of " Memories of Peking: South Side Stories "—self-disicipline and growth; "beauty" of " Memories of Peking: South Side Stories "--humanity, language and aestheic surrounding. I hope to redemonstrated the novel--"Memories of Peking: South Side Stories", to provide a different kind of choice in reading classic literature.
