碩士 / 國防大學理工學院 / 空間科學碩士班 / 105 / Synthetic Theater Operations Research Model (STORM) is a new system for battlefield simulation. However, the parameters of STORM are satisfied in North America. There are no databases used in Taiwan. In the other words, STORM is not adapted in our military mission. Therefore, we must establish a database for testing and analysis.
In this research, we utilize the Geography Information System (GIS) to compile the main roads such as national highway, provincial roads and county roads to build a road network of logistics. We also collect wind field information around coastal in Taiwan by the WINDSAT satellite to establish environmental parameters. After system certification, we can simulate the operation environment of supplying by the road network of logistics and let personnel analyze and evaluate various condition.
The operation process and result can provide personnel for reference with STORM, and we hope we can build a spatial database for Taiwan battlefield to simulate combat missions, and create a synthetic battlefield model for military planning and development of technology. STORM not only decreases the cost of training and risk of maneuver, but also improves equipment availability and efficiency of training.
