The Factors of Ocean Container Freight Rate –A Case Study of Transpacific Container Route / 定期船運價探討-以泛太平洋為例

碩士 / 長庚大學 / 商管專業學院碩士學位學程在職專班經營管理組 / 105 / In container shipping industry, Transpacific is one of the busiest trade lane. According to World Trade Organization (2013) , United State is ranked number 1 importer in international merchandized trade, and there are thousands of containers moving forward to United State every day. In the U.S. international trade, there are three types of importers including wholesalers, manufactories and the others, and wholesaler is the most among three types of importer by numbers, around 60% of wholesaler using containership to deliver their order from Asia to USA.

In past 10 years, the industry was impacted by changes of international trade, ocean containerized import freight rate is going up and down violently, this is seriously affected to importers and factories’ revenue of whom is using container to ship out cargo/goods from Asia to United State, especially when transportation cost is in high percentage of total.

Therefore this research is using historical average monthly ocean freight rate, economic data published by U.S. Department of Commerce and three different crude oil prices, through statistic tool, linear regression, to find out relationship and trend between ocean freight rate and the factors, which is able to provide a reference for importers and ocean carrier to set up business strategy.
