碩士 / 中華科技大學 / 航空運輸研究所在職專班 / 105 / The supply and demand of the pilot manpower are very important issues in the operations and management of the civil aviation industry. In recent years, the international civil aviation industry is continuing growing, especially in Asia Pacific and Mainland China. Consequently, employment of civil aviation pilot exchange largely across these areas. Therefore, the equilibrium of supply and demand of the aviation manpower is most concern and important motion of this research. The possible courses of the aviation administration policy and airline human resource management, which attribute to the issues, are parts of the concerns in this research.
Applying to literature review, the aviation development in Asia Pacific and Mainland China is studied. The supply and demand issues, related to pilot exchange across these areas are literature analysis. By applying the method of In-depth Interview with key players in aviation industry, the pilot salary and quality across areas are analyzed, as well as the correlation with the supply and demand.
As the findings of this research, Taiwan aviation industry are continuously hiring foreign pilots and training young pilot which shows pilot shortage, while certain numbers of experienced pilots go for Mainland China for pilot employment which shows the pilot surplus. There is no evidence of correlation to pilot salary and quality. This is so called double disequilibrium of supply and demand of pilot manpower. and young pilot. The suggestions to Aviation Administration and Airline human resource management are also included in the last chapter.
