碩士 / 輔仁大學 / 織品服裝學系碩士班 / 105 / This research focus on how the apparel propriety and apparel system affected women in early years of the Republic China. By analyzing Lin Hai-Yin’s “ Jin, Li-Yu’s red pleated skirt” as text and history background as entry point to discovered women’s position of that time of period and how to expressed self-identification through apparel.
This study used qualitative research method: textual analysis and narrative analysis and collects information from “Shun Tien Shi Bao” and “Woman magazine”, to build up the background of the early years of the Republic China and the tendencies in society and define women’s status and marriage condition at the time. Through Lin, Hai-Yin’s novel character as microscopic perspective, to comprehend the connection between written clothing and context of the time, and via the background from literature to understand how propriety, cultural change and apparel affect women.
To sum up, this research chose apparel propriety as spectacle to understand the written clothing and history background. Through authentic media as material to figure out the connection between propriety and cultural change. This research finds out that tendencies in society did affected people what to wear or how to wear, though women status was also a big part of it.
