Abstract
Taiwan is a country with the freedom of religions or believes. Not only are there all sizes of worship places around, including temples, churches of all Christian denominations and mosques of all Islam denominations, but also there are all kinds of religious festivals held regularly, showing specific religious characteristics and culture values. Those religious activities appeal to tourists and create the new type of tourist experience. In fact, those also bring the neighborhood significant tourism business, generate huge economic revenue and job opportunities for the local.
Due to the government expects to achieve the dual targets of improving the tourism business quality and boosting the local economy by promoting the religious and cultural tourism, it subsidizes and encourages all kinds of religious activities in these years. It causes the religious activities held in west coast of Taiwan are becoming commercial large-scale global events. This phenomena seems to be representing all religious activities in Taiwan and impresses everyone. However, the religious activities, meanwhile, held in the east coast of Taiwan are not going-well and eye-catching.
Therefore, this research is based on Hsieh-Tien Temple, which built public in Yilan County, and the regarding religious activities. It will discuss further those activities, social norms and customs in Chiao Shi Township to check the development strategy and figure out the practical marketing strategy. Those strategies will get spotlighted the development of the religious tourism in east coast of Taiwan.
The research will get started by experiencing the stay at Pilgrim Building of Hsieh-Tien Temple, and then all field visits related to the diversities of Chiao Shi Township sightseeing, routes, transportations and livings will be recorded. Furthermore, the interview with the elderly, the public sectors, the local entrepreneurs, scholars and experts will be set up after the relevant martial and literatures are collected and well studied. In the end, after summarizing their opinions and suggestions, the feasible solutions will be put forward.
