A Study on Overseas Interns’ Cognition, Life Adaptation and Internship Satisfaction in Vocational and Technical Colleges / 技專院校學生海外實習認知、生活適應與實習滿意度之研究

Since the implementation of overseas internship programs in vocational and technical colleges, the numbers of overseas interns increased year by year. The study aims to understand the overseas interns’ satisfaction of internships, and provides suggestions to make the overseas internship courses successful.
Therefore, the main purpose of this study is not only to explore the relationship among overseas interns’ cognition, life adaptation and overseas internship satisfaction, but also to examine the demographic differences among overseas interns’ cognition, life adaptation and overseas internship satisfaction. The sample is mainly based on the students participating in overseas internship programs from eight vocational and technical colleges such as (National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences, National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism、National Penghu University of Science and Technology、Meiho University、Taiwan Hospitality and Tourism University、Taipei City University of Science and Technology、Taiwan Shoufu University、Hungkuang University)A quantitative research method and a convenience sampling were conducted for the study. A pre-test of 60 students were completed and 59 valid questionnaires were retrieved with an effective recovery rate of 98%. A total of 200 copies of the network questionnaires were sent, and 187 valid questionnaires were retrieved with an effective recovery rate of 93%. The data were analyzed by SPSS20.0 statistical software, such as reliability analysis, sample characteristic analysis, factor analysis, descriptive item analysis, independent sample t test, single factor variance ANOVA analysis, regression analysis and other statistical methods for data validation analysis, The results of the study are shown as follows:
1.The gender of interns has partial significant differences in the ability to manage overseas internships and the adaptation of language.
2.Interns’ course groups (Meal group , Sightseeing group , Cooking group , Management group , International Group) have a significant difference in workplace ability and resistance to stress and resilience.Interns’ departments (Department of Hotel Management , Department of Food and Beverage Management , Tourism Management and Exhibition Management Department , Department of Applied English , Application of Japanese , Department of Catering Management , Department of Aviation and Transportation Services Management , Department of Tourism Management , Department of Leisure and Recreation Management , Chinese cuisine、Tourism Management , Food and beverage arts) have partial significant differences in overseas internship satisfaction and internship performance satisfaction.
3.Overseas interns’ recognition has significant impact on overseas internship adaption
4.Overseas interns’ recognition has a significant impact on overseas internship satisfaction.
5.Overseas internship adaption has a significant impact on overseas life adaption.
