Research have shown that the health of elder people closely related their social participation and the number of times with outdoor activities. The quality of the urban transport system will affect the elderly person's willingness to go out and secure. Therefore assessing the quality of elderly-friendly urban transport is an important issue with construction of age-friendly environment. Therefore, explore the differences of elder people between rural an urban, as there are different degree of urbanization in each district of Tainan City.
Thus this research aimed combined transportation indicators for World Health Organization framework (WHO) in 2007 and other research related elderly people of transportation. The study developed framework and indicators which are suitable for assessing the urban transportation systems Taiwan, based on the needs of the elder people use for public transportation, vehicle, motorcycles and walking.
The purpose of this research is mainly to construct assessment framework. This section is through the literature, summaries to the elderly friendly transport system assessment of the five Factors and 11 indicators (safety, accessibility, reliability, comfort and economy). Second, through the expert questionnaire survey using the Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to set the weight. The final part is the assessment result. It was found that the urban area were more friendly than the rural areas on the accessibility, comfort and reliability.
