Modern female and city --- The grotesque constructure and erotic projection of Shanghai Literacy / 現代性的女體與城市: 海派小說的怪異建構與情慾投射(1927-1937)

碩士 / 國立中央大學 / 中國文學系 / 105 / The formation and inner spirit of Shanghai Style and Neo Sensual School are based on urban culture. Most of the urban writers shares the basic idiosyncrasy of intoxicating in urban life as well as sentimentally attaching to fundamental enjoyment, and their works reflect the particularity of their life style and knowledge. The life style of these urban writers can be seen as the inspirations and influential elements during their creation. At the same time, it should also be seen as a sort of culture practise. Moreover, being a writer living in cities, he or she is both a writer and a reader, and continually transforming between "accept" and "being accepted". Besides acting as the metaphor of modern life, writers also reconstruct modern female figure with city and its residents. Hence, combining modern female as the subject which is mentioned repeatedly in texts, and a succession of anxiety and imaginations arose by those women need further inspect and clarify to understand the transformations and inner motivations caused by the mutual superposition between city and female.
This article hopes to set up a discourse framework by using the relationship between "modernity" and "modern"to develop a more complete aspect for the field that study on Shanghai Style of all time. Maybe we can describe these author that contaminate in modern cities more directly by the spirit and trend of pursuing new ideas, and "urban literacy" that is peculiar to Shanghai.
