The Influence of Cultural Integration on Overseas M&A of Enterprises - Taking E Corporation Mergers and Acquisitions of N.M. Corporation in Japan as an Example / 文化整合對企業海外併購之影響-以E公司併購日本N.M.公司為例

It is also due to the integration that comes with mergers and acquisitions which includes business strategies, organizational structures, business processes, human resources and cultural differences between two corporations. In the mergers and acquisitions cases, the success rate of mergers and acquisitions was only 43%, and over 80% of failed cases were attributed to the failure of cultural integration. Therefore, cultural integration after M&A can be regarded as a key factor in the success of mergers and acquisitions.
Since cultural integration is the key factor in the success of corporates mergers and acquisitions, many examples of failures are vivid. The overseas mergers and acquisitions of corporations are still occurring. To understand how to make mergers and acquisitions successful, researcher hopes to drill deeper into this topic. Apply this study to achieve the best synergy of mergers and acquisitions by understanding the substantial benefits of cultural integration on overseas M&A. This is the motivation of this study.
In this study, qualitative research was conducted on the acquisition of Japanese company N.M. by E company in 2013 as an individual case through in-depth semi-structured interviews. Through the analysises and discussions based on the corporate cultures of E company and N.M. company, the study will further verify what the corporation transformation is and how the culture integrates well are the important factors of success in cross-border M & A.
