Growth, Reproduction and Management Implication of Cheilopogon atrisignis in the Orchid Island off Eastern Taiwan / 台灣東部蘭嶼海域紅斑鰭飛魚(Cheilopogon atrisignis)的成長繁殖與管理意涵

碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋事務研究所 / 105 / Flying fish is one of the most common species off eastern Taiwan, and it represents three different aspects of meanings, which are ecology, fishery and culture. It is not only the food of high valued fish and target specie of artisanal fishery but also the core for the culture of the Orchid Island. The target specie of this research is Cheilopogon atrisignis, which can only be caught around the Orchid Island in Taiwan in the past research. Because of the uniqueness of C. atrisignis, it is worth researching by fishery biology. We use the increment of the othliths and the histologic section of gonads for the growth and reproduction research, and the result could be the scientific reference for fishery policy. The average fork length of male samples is 27.35 ± 0.85 cm;The average fork length of female samples is 28.98 ± 0.82 cm. For the growth research, it has daily increment and the VBGF is L_t=35.21× (1-e^(-2.41(t-0) ) ). For the reproduction research, it belongs to batch spawner, and is spawning capable around the Orchid Island from April to July. For cultivation, we found out that it has three pairs of othliths on eleven days old. However, the growth rate of cultured samples is much lower than wild samples, so the result of cultured cannot replace the result of wild samples.
