碩士 / 國立臺灣體育運動大學 / 運動事業管理學系碩士班 / 105 / The purpose of this study was to explore the current situation of elementary school students in swimming classes in coast area as well as to understand their participation motivation and obstacles. This study administrated “swimming class participation motivation scale” and “swimming class participation obstacle scale” for Chiayi County elementary school students as instrument to gather data from elementary school students. The participation motivation was divided participation motivation of elementary school into ”self-needed”, “learning achievement”, “self-challenge”, ”environment-influence” while the obstacles were divided into “academic influence”, ”external influence”, ”internal influence”. 300 questionnaires were distributed subjects taking parts in swimming class. Of the 300 questionnaires, 296 were valid collected corresponding with 98.7% return rate.
The gathered data were then computed by descriptive analysis, independent t-test, One-way analysis of variance, and scheffee post hoc. The findings of this study shows:
1. Most of subject were female students, in six grade, and have more than two years’ swimming experience. Most of students went swimming class at least nine times a semester.
2. There are significant differences upon swimming class frequencies a semester and after school swimming class frequencies a semester on motivation variable.
3. There are significant difference upon grade, swimming class schedule, swimming class frequencies a semester and after school swimming class frequencies a semester on grade variable.
4. Participation motivation is negative correlated with participation obstacles.
