A Comparative Study of Commercial Specific Terminology between Mainland China and Taiwan – An example in financial market / 海峽兩岸商業專業用語的比較研究-以金融市場為例

The financial market of Taiwan followed the rule of European countries’ and American’s system for a long time. The most of terminology used in this market in Taiwan are translated from English. Mainland China began to her reform and opening up since 1987, and her financial knowledge also establishes through the Chinese world (such as Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong etc.) gradually. The professional terminology of business mostly translates from English, too. But because the language used between Mainland China and Taiwan still has the cross-strait gap, these making the business professional terminology have different, and joint translation language will be different. Because the economy rises abruptly in Mainland China, the contemporary Chinese language, in the international community, has become a very popular global language. The whole world is in stirring up of learning Chinese. In order to understand the Chinese culture or trade with Mainland Chinese, learning Chinese language has become a fashion trend of other countries in the world. People live in Taiwan using authentic Chinese characters, which inherit the fine tradition of Chinese culture, and the rapid development of economy in Mainland China, both bring complementary role. This paper analyzes the similarities and differences between the two sides of the strait, and takes the financial market as an example, which is an important source of this master thesis.
