碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境資訊系 / 105 / The estuarine waters were collected from the Danshuei Estuary, the largest estuary in Northern Taiwan, and were analyzed seven studied pharmaceuticals compounds by the solid-phase extraction pre-concentration step coupled with LC-MS/MS detection. An environmental risk assessment for the estuary environment was conducted based on the environment risk quotient (ERQ).
The concentration ranges of the studied pharmaceuticals compounds were as follow: Caffeine, <1.7-717.61 ng/L; Sulfadiazine, <0.1-66.23 ng/L; Sulfamethoxazole, 0.33-30.33 ng/L; Sulfathiazole, <0.03-0.29 ng/L; Erythromycin-H2O, 15.35-52.97 ng/L; Acetaminophen, 5.63-44.95 ng/L; and Carbamazepine, 2.71-15.36 ng/L. The concentrations of Sulfathiazole in the analyzed samples were generally below the detection limit even the estuarine waters were pre-concentrated as 2000 folds.
The concentrations of the analyzed pharmaceuticals compounds generally exhibited decrease with increasing salinity. However, the higher concentrations of Sulfamethoxazole, Erythromycin-H2O and Acetaminophen appeared in the mid-estuary, indicating that a source of these compounds was input into the mid-estuary. The present study suggests that the Danshuei Estuary is also contaminated by the pharmaceutical residues.
In this study, the risk of most of the pharmaceutical compounds are insignificant (RQ <= 0.1); nevertheless, the risk of Erythromycin-H2O is moderate, the environment risk quotient being up to 2.65.
