A study on the Students’ Opinions on Teaching Evaluation Survey-An Example of National Taiwan Ocean University / 學生對於教師教學反應意見調查看法之研究:以國立臺灣海洋大學為例

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 教育研究所 / 105 / This study aimed to discuss the opinion about the practical situation of “Course Evaluation Survey” of National Taiwan Ocean University and interviewed students’ opinion towards “Student Ratings of Instruction” in order to investigate the Course Evaluation Survey if achieved the purpose of Teachers’ Evaluation or not? Furthermore, to analyze the agreement for the extension of the result of Teachers’ Evaluation. At last, findings would be revealed as suggestions for the further development and practice in Course Evaluation Survey of National Taiwan Ocean University. The questionnaire of Course Evaluation Survey is as the research tool for interviewing the undergraduates of National Taiwan Ocean University in the second semester of 2017 school year. First, Document Analysis was used for sorting out related theories and studies in Taiwan, then the practice of Teachers’ Evaluation for students would be analyzed. Secondly, the opinions of students with different backgrounds toward “Course Evaluation Survey” would be gathered.
According to the information from interview, research observation and school related documents for coding and analyzing, the conclusions are as the follows:
In practical category, students were curious about the results of questionnaire because they have no idea the meaning and the follow up dealing procedure of questionnaire. They don’t know the affection of themselves and teachers after questionnaire and didn’t believe the result would improve teaching. Besides, there were no benefits because they have to complete the evaluation before the course selection. Therefore, students were expecting the administrations could figure out apparently for the purpose and meaning of this activity and apply the results for students.
In evaluation tool category, students thought the self-evaluation could be deleted in the content of evaluation tool, and some optional item could be simplified for them were too similar and might cause fidget. Moreover, students supposed the question about teacher’s attendance was necessarily for teacher’s punctuality was a massive influence on students’ learning right.
In result applying category, students’ attitudes were negative for them didn’t understand how the school would use it, but they still wanted to know the results of evaluation. They believed if there was a public channel for them to check and inquiry about what’s the different thinking in teachers’ teaching among themselves in order to rethink their own learning attitudes.
