Manoeuvrability-Based Strategies and Critical Time for Collision Avoidance / 基於操縱性能之船舶避碰策略與臨界時間

博士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 系統工程暨造船學系 / 105 / This research aims to provide safety criteria for collision avoidance based on ship’s manoeuvrability, including of COLREGS-compliant strategies, magnitude of course alteration and critical time to manoeuvre. A model of the dynamic game of complete information (DGCI) is adopted to analyze the two stages of overtaking, head-on and crossing situations so that the COLREGS-complaint strategies are obtained. The magnitude of course alteration and the alteration time are determined by algebraic equations which are derived from the geometric properties. Considering ship’s manoeuvrability, an equation for estimating the physical time delay is derived from the MSC.137(76) Standards for Ship Manoeuvrability. The critical time for stand-on vessel can be determined by alteration time and physical time delay based on the definition of close-quarters situations. It subsequently serves as an alteration point for give-way vessel. The magnitude of course alteration for give-way vessel can thus be yielded by its alteration time. With correction of the physical time delay, the critical time for give-way vessel can be determined. Finally, three real cases are analyzed to verify the proposed approaches and demonstrate that they can serve as criteria to ensure navigation safety for practical applications.
