Validation of primary productivity algorithm derived from multi-satellite data in the waters around Taiwan / 利用衛星遙測資料反演臺灣周邊海域基礎生產力與驗證之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 環境生物與漁業科學學系 / 105 / This study collected the high-resolution multi-satellite data including Chlorophyll-a, Sea Surface Temperature from 2009 to 2013 in the water around Taiwan. The Vertically Generalized Production Model (VGPM) were used to estimate the 1-day, 3-day, 7-day and monthly averaged high-resolution (1.1 km spatial grid) PP (primary productivity). The model results were then compared with the in-situ and 9km PP from NASA Ocean Productivity in the study area. Besides, considering there are regional differences in the water around Taiwan, the cluster analyses were used to divide the sub-areas. The results show the relationship between 9km and estimated PP has significant positive correlations (r = 0.91, p<0.05). The estimated MODIS Aqua and Terra averaged, MODIS Aqua and MODIS Terra PP also show significant positive correlations related to the in-situ data with correlation coefficients of 0.43, 0.43 and 0.32, respectively. The biases of estimated MODIS Aqua and Terra averaged, MODIS Aqua and MODIS Terra PP are -1.23, -1.21 and -1.19, respectively. The root mean square difference of estimated MODIS Aqua and Terra averaged, MODIS Aqua and MODIS Terra PP are 1.28, 1.25 and 1.25, respectively. This study established the modified VGPM to be used in the water around Taiwan. The cluster results show the water around Taiwan can be divided into four regions: China Coast, Taiwan Strait, Northeast upwelling, and Kuroshio. There are significant positive correlations between MODIS Aqua and Terra averaged, MODIS Aqua modeled and in-situ PP in Taiwan Strait with correlation coefficients of 0.51 and 0.29, respectively. Moreover, there are also significant positive correlations between MODIS Aqua modeled and in-situ PP in Northeast upwelling and Kuroshio with correlation coefficients of 0.61 and 0.37, respectively.
