Excel Design Program on Shell-and-Tube and Fin-Tube Heat Exchangers / 殼管式與鰭管式熱交換器Excel設計程式

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 機械與機電工程學系 / 105 / Three computer programs have been developed to design the shell-and-tube and fin-tube heat exchangers. Many related empirical relations in thermal and flow fields were included in these program. The thermal physical properties of many fluids such as water, steam, air, Dowtherm oil and lubricating oil were established to support the calculation during the analysis. In the beginning of this program, energy balance between hot and cold fluids is made to meet.

Preliminary design includes the choice of the size, counts, passes, pitch, and layout of chosen heat transfer tubes. Once the overall heat transfer coefficient, U, was guessed, a preliminary prototype is built. Finally, according to the reasonable ranges in flow velocities, Reynolds numbers, and the thermal resistance inside and outside of tubes, the input dimensions can be adjusted parametrically to achieve an optimal work. Besides the thermal analysis, the strength of constructive parts must satisfy the requirements proposed by HEDH and TEMA specifications.

The computer program was coded in Microsoft Excel. T he designer can change input parameters to achieve an optimal design rapidly. It facilities the tedious traditional procedures, avoids mistake, and efficiently promote the design quality. In this thesis, four typical examples, water-water, water- lubricating oil, air-Dowtherm oil, and air-steam have executed, and the results concerning thermal characteristic and structures are evaluated.
