The Novel of Hai Yan's Nirvana in Fire and Its Television Adaptation / 海宴《琅琊榜》及其電視劇改編研究

碩士 / 國立臺北教育大學 / 語文與創作學系碩士班 / 105 / Hai Yan's novel, Nirvana in Fire, has enhanced the visibility of web fiction in the field of literature, and its adaption into a TV series not only involved the areas of archeology and aesthetics, it also enriched the imagery of Nirvana in Fire. Both the novel and the TV play triggered public interest while transforming the author’s talents into a visual feast, which further elevated the value of Nirvana in Fire.
Despite the fact that Nirvana in Fire is not the first adaptation of web novels into a TV series, it is highly acclaimed and widely studied by the academia, surpassing any others. However, compared to its TV series, the aesthetic achievement of the novel Nirvana in Fire is lesser known. Therefore, this study hope to analyze the characterization, the narrative structure, and the theme of ideology in the novel Nirvana in Fire, at the same time, taking into consideration of the messages the novel is trying to convey regarding life, and make a comprehensive interpretation of its implication, exploring its positioning and influence. The chapters of this thesis are as follows:

Chapter 1: Introduction. The content and aim of this thesis are explained by clarifying the research motive and purpose, explaining the scope and the methods employing employing in the research, as well as the literature review and structure.

Chapter 2: The character creation of Nirvana in Fire. This section looks into the image of the characters in the novel Nirvana in Fire, as well as the adaptation of these characters in the TV series.

Chapter 3: The narrative mode of Novel Nirvana in Fire. This section takes narrative into account and looks into the operation of the narrative mode in the novel Nirvana in Fire.

Chapter 4: The art of rhetoric in Nirvana in Fire. This section examines the fusion of classical and modern sophistication in the writing of Nirvana in Fire, as well as the depth and breadth of value and ideology in this work.

Chapter 5: The characteristics of the adaptation made in the Nirvana in Fire TV Series. This section examines the creation of the TV series and studies the success of its adaptation.

Chapter 6: Conclusion. This section summarizes the research results and future prospects for research
