碩士 / 國立臺北大學 / 企業管理學系 / 105 / The purpose of the present study was to study the role of self-monitoring, cultural intelligence (CQ), supervisor support, and career engagement of Taiwanese oversea workers under the inter-cultural setting. We studied the mediating effects of the CQ on the relationship between self-monitoring and career engagement. In addition, this research also examined the moderating effects of the supervisor support on the relationship between CQ and career engagement. The samples of our research are Taiwanese workers working oversea. We conducted the survey by on-line questionnaire, and received 159 questionnaires. The valid questionnaires were 121 and the valid questionnaire rate was 76%.
We analyzed our data by regression analysis and structural equation model. The results showed that: (1) self-monitoring has a positive effect on career engagement; (2) self-monitoring has a positive effect on CQ; (3) CQ has a positive effect on career engagement; (4) the mediating effect of CQ on the relationship between self-monitoring and career engagement exists; (5) the moderating effect of supervisor support on the relationship between CQ and career engagement is not significant. Based on the research results, self-monitoring and CQ have an important influence on career engagement. In addition, self-monitoring have a positive effect on career engagement through the mechanism of CQ. According to findings of the research, we proposed theoretical and practical contributions, research restrictions, and recommendations to provide future academic research and practical managerial operations.
