碩士 / 靜宜大學 / 化粧品科學系 / 105 / Plectranthus amboinicus extracts were used in skin care products and soaps, they focus on the antibacterial and antioxidant activity. In the past, Plectranthus amboinicus was crushed and then added directly to the product. Which products plant residues of the product color and texture is poor, and easy to change color. More importantly, it will reduce the effectiveness of the products. In this study, alginate microcapsule was prepared by sol-gel technology. The microcapsules could prolong the lifetime of Plectranthus amboinicus by protecting them from leaching and releasing them slowly. To find the optimum conditions, the preparation of Plectranthus amboinicus microcapsules and their antibacterial and antioxidant activity were be tested. And keep it in color of the product.
The results showed that the Plectranthus amboinicus microcapsules were prepared successfully. When calcium carbonate was added to 0.03%, the encapsulation efficiency was 82.3%. The particle size distribution was narrow. The addition amount of calcium carbonate was 0.03%, the release rate of microcapsule was 23.75% at 8h (pH=8), after the start of a more stable slow release. And the antioxidant effect of the Plectranthus amboinicus was prolonged. The color of microcapsule is not affected by pH value, which is favorable for color retention. Therefore, the utility model can be used to make up the natural pigment and improve the antioxidant ability.
