A Preliminary Study of the Underwriting Factors on Offshore Wind Power Insurance / 離岸風力發電保險核保因子之初探

碩士 / 實踐大學 / 財務金融學系碩士班 / 105 / Offshore wind energy has become a trending of alternative energy in this world, Taiwan possesses a preferable geographic location with remarkable wind energy resources. With continuing development, offshore wind energy will lead to be an alternative energy in the future in Taiwan. However, offshore wind energy industry is a complicated industry with high technicality, intensive capital and sophisticated engineering during whole establishment and installed period (such as specific ships availability). Moreover, offshore wind energy industry meets multiple risks during its life cycle and has to rely on non-life insurance industry to provide different coverage. Offshore wind energy insurance is a new field to local non-life insurance industry and may play a strategy insurance to match the development of energy in the future. This study trying to find preliminary factors that influence the underwriting decisions via literature review and depth interview to professional staff in insurance industry. All interviewers reach a consensus to the preliminary underwriting decision factors of this study found. Finally, this study conclude , in order to deal with the newest offshore wind insurance, local insurer industry need more comprehensive underwriting technicality, have to establish an underwriting guide and risk transfer mechanism to deal with risk accumulation from offshore wind insurance.
