The particularity and diversity of the Shanghai Culture lead to social integration and conflict issues. In the community of Shanghai, the “Taiwanese Group” and “Shanghainese Group” affect each other. In this regard, Shanghainese immigrants’ self-belonging demonstrates a variety of cultural patterns. This research shows that, considering the primary decision-making motivation of Taiwanese youth to choose Shanghai entrepreneurship, the “external rally” for Shanghai's international economic advantages is greater than the “internal thrust” that is hindered by the Taiwanese job market structure. Taiwanese youth entrepreneurship in Shanghai consists a culture of elegance (politeness and observing the rules) and performance culture (satisfaction and time efficiency), whilst actively plays the role of globalization of elite culture. The lifestyle of Shanghai’s immigrants also consists the transformation process through the Taiwan culture input, refraction and feedback, and thus leads to the formation of a new Shanghai life, enjoying the fusion of both lifestlyes.
This thesis applies qualitative research method to interview with a total of 11 young people working in Shanghai. This thesis consequently finds that: (1) Among Shanghai entrepreneurial decision-making factors, rather than losing confidence, or being depress on unemployment of the Taiwan youth job market, Taiwanese youth are, as the primary factor to choose Shanghai, optimistic about the potential of Shanghai's economic globalization; (2) The phenomenon of young talents leaving is not due to the single factor but Shanghai's international competitiveness of the “centripetal force” phenomenon, and the domestic job market failure of the “centrifugal force” phenomenon; (3) The Lifestyle of Taiwanese youth in Shanghai actively play the role of internationalized elite culture; (4) Taiwanese youth overseas employment “migration” process continually develops the “Relational Network” structure, in particular the attention to the establishment and maintenance of the network of relationships in the Shanghai circle; (5) The Shanghai Cultural integrates and conflicts through the place, time, capital, social relations and other interactive factors. Because of overseas entrepreneurship, Taiwanese youth in Shanghai's social space position leads to social location space movement opportunities and changes.
