A Reflection on Film Production Regarding Gender Equality Issues in Public Sector: A Case Study of Micro Movies “All Man” and “Metamorphosis” produced by Coast Guard Administration / 公部門性別平等議題創作實踐之反思—以海巡署自製微電影「眾生」及「蛻變」為例

碩士 / 世新大學 / 廣播電視電影學研究所(含碩專班) / 105 / Unlike the discourse of single creation adopted in the traditional literature, this research examines the role of government units, take Coast Guard Administration as an example, in the process of promoting gender equality by studying two films, All Man and Metamorphosis, produced by an independent director.
The director spent three years working on these two films, showing his compassion on social issues such as gender equality and as a continuous process of embodying social practice. The contents of this research include personal motivation of creation, the context, literature review, analysis of the films and their style, conclusion and suggestion etc.
All Man and Metamorphosis are drama films that adopted the spirit of independent film. The plot of All Man is built around the different situations regarding gender inequality one may face in the Coast Guard Administration, a more “masculine” workplace. On the other hand, the plot of Metamorphosis focuses on events happen outside the Coast Guard Administration, reflecting the current status of gender equality in Coast Guard Administration by discussing gender roles in modern family. The director’s dissertations focus on these two films and discuss the creation process in depth. The main aim of his papers is to not only study the current status of gender equality in government units, but self-examine the deeper meaning behind receiving the Most Innovative Film on Gender Equality award in 2015 for “All Men”. Therefore, we hope to gain a further insight of film production on gender equality issues in public sector by studying the content of “All Men” and “Metamorphosis”.
