A Study on the Relation Between Green Products and Purchase Intention Among Jinshan Senior High School Students with the Oceanic Education as a Mediating Effect / 以金山高中學生對於購買綠色產品意願關係之研究-以海洋教育為中介變數

碩士 / 聖約翰科技大學 / 企業管理系碩士班 / 105 / As ocean pollution is getting more and more serious, the issues on environmental protection are becoming more and more emphasized than ever. Recent studies have pointed out that receiving green education plays a positive role in people’s attitude and behavior toward environmental protection. This paper thus aims to explore the relationship between the promotion of green education and the consumers’ willingness to purchase green products. Thus I started to investigate the students in New Taipei Municipal Jinshan High School, located near the sea, hoping to see if students’ willingness to purchase green products will be enhanced after their environmental protection awareness is strengthened through oceanic education curriculum. The survey is conducted by issuing paper questionnaires to students. A total of 200 valid questionnaires are retrieved. Bootstrapping method is used to deal with Structural Equation Modelling to verify the mediating effects. Empirical results are found to support this study’s related hypothesis. The study indicates that high school students’ willingness to buy such green products as those with Green marks and Recycling marks, and those without plastic micro beads will be augmented through the implementation of oceanic education courses.
The results of this study can be applied:
1. When it comes to product materials, packaging materials, etc., businesses should take environmental protection into consideration so that businesses can shoulder social responsibility and improve their business image, which further (in turn) prompt consumers’ willingness to purchase green products.
2. With the implementation of the curriculum on oceanic education in high school, students’ concept of green life and environmental protection can be strengthened. In the future, students may bring environmental concepts back to their families, businesses and even to the whole society.
3. Government or businesses should promote environmental education through advertising via various media, such as TV or the Internet, and strengthen the concept of environmental protection for the public so that Green energy can be spread in a butterfly effect. In this way, we can leave a better Earth for the generations to come.
