碩士 / 東海大學 / 景觀學系 / 105 / Tunghai University is located in Xitun District, Taichung City. The current lighting on campus has been long used, and the appearances are simple.The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there are street lights more suitable for Tunghai University which can reflect the campus culture. Another aim is to discover different choices of the street lights among different groups. This study mainly discusses the environmental suitability of the landscape illumination in Tunghai University. The study base is Wenli Road, Acacia woods and Deyao Road in TunghaiUniversity.
The results of the study were that half of the campus users don’t know about the current campus street lights, especially those on Wenli Road and Deyao Road, and they know more about the illumination in Acacia woods. But in terms of environment understanding, Wenli Road and Deyao Road are better known. The users who have design training background prefer simple and modern lights. The users who don’t have such background prefer decorative and animal-like lights.
It is found that simple retro lights are suitable in Acacia Woods, simple modern lights are suitable in Deyao Road, and decorative dwarf lights are suitable in Wenli Road. The user who have design training background and live on campus like the meatball lights, while the users who don’t have design training background and live on campus prefer them too. The possible reason is that those who live on campus, whether having design training background or not, have a deeper affection for the meatball lights which are currently used in Tunghai University.
