碩士 / 台南應用科技大學 / 視覺傳達設計系碩士班 / 105 / Recently, Taiwan has seen the emergence of a tourist boom, in which many rural towns and villages have thrown themselves into various approaches to marketing design in order to increase their visibility and the productivity of their tourism industries.
Nanchuang Township in Maoli County is located in an area with beautiful landscapes surrounded by mountains. Its residents consist mainly of the Hakka people and the aboriginal people from the Saisiat and Atayal tribes and boast a long history and a rich variety of different cultures. Given that all of these together constitute a very worthy creation topic, the purpose this study is to help more people develop a deeper understanding and in turn help Nanchuang achieve success with their tourist marketing by looking into urba-rural imagery and providing a poster creation.
A field survey that dived into several landmarks in Nanchuang, such as the Osmanthus Alley, the Old Street, the Fairy Valley, the Yongchang Temple and the Xiangtian Lake, interviews with workers at visitor centers, and a literature review were conducted to analyze the cultural features of the different local ethnic groups, which became elements in the poster creation. Then, the semiotic theory and various design principles were adopted as the basis for this creation. The expression technique used for this creation combined traditional printmaking and modern digital drawing techniques. With this approach that fully demonstrates the beauty of fusing the old with the new, it is possible to convey and promote the history of Nanchuang, its cultures and landscapes in an intangible way and thus serve the purpose of marketing the local tourism industry.
