Effects of Development of Picture Book of Aquaponics on Children 's Learning / 魚菜共生繪本開發對幼兒學習成效之影響

碩士 / 臺北市立大學 / 應用物理暨化學系自然科學教學碩士學位班 / 105 / The aim of this study is to present how a storytelling course with the help of a self-made picture book of “Aquaponics, the symbiotic relationship between fish and vegetables,” will help children to develop a basic understanding of the concept of aquaponics through vivid compelling characters and images.
In order to make the study reliable it requires to define two objectives listed as below,
1. Explore whether children shows interest after attending storytelling course about aquaponics.
2. Evaluate how storytelling course will impact the assessment result of “Learning Outcomes and Indicators for Kindergarten Participation”.
In addition, four research questions have been drawn according to the purpose of the study:
1. Whether the storytelling course will help to motivate children's interest in aquaponics.
2. Whether the storytelling course will improve the overall assessment result of “Learning Outcomes and Indicators for Kindergarten Participation”.
3. Whether the storytelling course will improve the assessment result of language in terms of “Learning Outcomes and Indicators for Kindergarten Participation”.
4. Whether the storytelling course will improve the assessment result of social competence in terms of “Learning Outcomes and Indicators for Kindergarten Participation”.
In this study, we use the aquaponics concept learning achievement test for the pre-test and post-test as quantitative method and use video recording observation, sheet of aquaponics observation record and learning feedback as qualitative method, and then through data analysis to conclude the results and recommendations. Also, the study adopts before-and-after experimental design for a single selected group under observation. With a careful measurement being done, it is able to validate the cognitive difference of understanding of aquaponics by using storytelling course.
The research tools used in this study include the Learning Achievement Test on Aquaponics, documentary materials (including learning feedback, child observation records, interview records and etc.), teachers' teaching records and teaching reflections.
According to the results of this study, the researchers summarized the following conclusions:
1. The storytelling course can help to build children's interest in the topic of aquaponics.
2. The storytelling course can improve the overall assessment result of “Learning Outcomes and Indicators for Kindergarten Participation”.
3. The storytelling course can improve the assessment result of language in “Learning Outcomes and Indicators for Kindergarten Participation”.
4. The storytelling course can improve assessment result of social competence in “Learning Outcomes and Indicators for Kindergarten Participation”.
Lastly it concludes with questions raised by the study, implications for teaching method, and suggestions for future research.
