Multiple Quality Characteristics Analysis of the Geometric Design for Submarines / 潛艇幾何構型設計之多重品質特性分析

碩士 / 國防大學理工學院 / 造船及海洋工程碩士班 / 106 / During the procedure of the geometric design for submarines, the designer usually focuses on the quality characteristics which are the resistance reduction and the capacity. Both of them have significant effect on the underwater characteristics, the general arrangement and the payload of the weapon systems, and they are also the key factors for a successful submarine design. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the different submarine geometries on the reduction resistance and the capacity. For this reason, this study employs the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method to calculate underwater resistance; the steady and unsteady flow field test to check the effect of different flow field on the calculated results; the mesh independent test to confirm the reliability of the calculated results. In addition, through the Taguchi method, submarine geometries could be changed by these four controllable factors, which are the shape of the bow, the shape of the stern, the ratio of the length-to-diameter, and the angle of the sail. Combining the controllable factors with different levels into different submarine geometries to be performed by the numerical simulation, the calculated results could be analyzed through the analysis of variance, and the influence of the relation between submarine geometries and resistance reduction is deeply explored. Furthermore, based on the method above, the capacity of different submarine geometries is calculated. Also through the analysis of variance, the influence of the relation between submarine geometries and capacity is explored.
According to the analysis results of the resistance reduction and the capacity, to be satisfied with the actual needs of users, it must strikes a balance between the resistance reduction and capacity in submarine design. Therefore, through the ability of global optimization in Genetic Algorithm, the resistance reduction and the capacity are set different weights to search the most appropriate combination of the controllable factors’ levels. During the procedure of the Genetic Algorithm, the Percentage Reduction of Quality Loss (PRQL) is used to be the standard for both of quality characteristics. The degree of improvement is compared effectively between the original design and the optimized design in quality characteristics by PRQL. This study results can effectively reduce the R&D time and save the budget in the early stages of the submarine design and development stage. In the future, it will serve as a reference for actual project development.
