Due to popularity of mobile phones, people now rely more on mobile phones than computers. After Apple Inc. launched smart phones in 2007, the smart phone era started. APPs are continuously designed and are applied in different fields. The Apps on travel guide are increasing year by year. Thus, this study 『Application of Augmented Reality Travel App: Taking Artworks of Yilan Old Town as an Example』allows people to set up the correct travel background and access to the latest information of scenic spots, so as to reduce time to find locations and increase the quality and efficiency of travel. It can make people obtain not only real-time information but also latest notifications and news from Facebook fan groups and the official website of Artworks of Yilan Old Town.
This study develops the augmented reality travel guide system by using the new Android framework Actionbar Scrollable Tabs in combination with augmented reality (Wikitude) and cross platform and mobile web technologies (Jquery Mobile). The users can access to the current information of scenic spots on the mobile phones through the reality mode, and visit mobile web and responsive web pages instead of maps to guide their travel. This system can immediately realize reality travel guide.
