Recreational Divers’ Setting Attributes and Willingness to Pay in the Marine Conservation Area:Liuqiu Marine Protected Area as a Case / 休閒潛水員海洋保育區環境屬性與願付價格-以琉球海洋保育區為例

碩士 / 景文科技大學 / 旅遊管理系觀光與餐旅管理碩士班 / 106 / The primary aims of this study are to provide a theoretical research basis for the future domestic marine conservation area on market pricing through a literature review of the pricing research of foreign conservation areas and to further understand the resort divers’ willingness to pay (WTP) to use the resources of the marine conservation area for the sustainable management and marine resource conservation. This study adopts the payment card in the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) for price inquiry and the resort divers on Liuqiu Island,Pingtung as its research subjects, collects samples through Purposive sampling, and conducts a survey using a structured questionnaire. In total,279 valid questionnaires were returned. The data are analyzed with SPSS statistical software. The research results indicate that 87.1 percent of the interviewed divers are willing to pay for diving, but the mean of the expected values of the WTP is 217.4 NT dollars. Most of the WTP falls between 50 NT dollars and 200 NT dollars, which was expressed by 152 respondents, accounting for 54.5 percent of the interviewees. Among them,62 people were willing to pay 100 NT dollars, making up 22.2 percent of the interviewees;seven people were willing to pay 150 NT dollars, accounting for 2.5 percent of the interviewees;and 51 people were willing to pay 200 NT dollars, making up 18.3 percent of the interviewees。 The research results show that most of the interviewed divers are willing to pay a price for the conservation of marine resources. If a diving fee is charged in the future,a trust fund should be established to engage in the management and application of the collected charges, and a local organization should be set up to conduct supervision and management. Furthermore, the categories of interviewees’ high expectations and low satisfaction should be improved first, including “large number of fish species,” “large number of aquatic creatures,” “marine conservation area where fishing is completely prohibited,” “marine ecological conservation promoted by the government,” and “illegal fishing behavior banned by the government.”
