碩士 / 開南大學 / 觀光運輸學院碩士在職專班 / 106 / The purpose of the research was to explore how the leisure and cultural experience in women’s overseas independent travel affect their body and soul through understanding traveling styles, female travelers’ characteristics and analyzing the leisure and cultural experiences in women’s overseas independent travel. Research methods included literature review, textual analysis, participant observation and in-depth interview were adopted in this research. The result indicates that the leisure experience could derive from beautiful scenery, exoticism, the joy of spontaneity, good companions, gourmet cuisine, shopping and specific leisure activities. All of these make female travelers mentally or physically feel relaxed and create pleasant leisure experience. The cultural experience derives from encountering local customs and traditions, understanding local history and culture, participating in cultural activities and perceiving cross-cultural difference. By crossing physical and cultural boundaries, female travelers observe foreign cultures and reflect on their own. Moreover, those cultural experiences help them discover the hidden part in their self-cognition, and then transform their self-identity, finally reinvent themselves.
