The study of the Travel Motivations, Travel Constraints and Well-being of Seniors on Oversea Backpacking / 銀髮族海外自由行旅遊動機、旅遊阻礙與幸福感之研究

The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship among the travel motivations, travel constraints and well-being of seniors within oversea backpacking. A total of 430 questionnaires were administered to seniors above 55 years old from TSA, TPE, KHH etc airport. SPSS20.0 and SEM8.51 were used to analyze the demographic, travel characteristic, travel motivations, travel constraints and well-being of seniors.
Results: The results of the descriptive statistics showed that 51.8% of female ever went aboard for travelling independently, 41.8% of seniors got the education-level above college, 36.1% of seniors in the age between 55 and 60 had the experience of oversea backpacking. Most seniors ever suffered from intrapersonal constraints which in terms of "physical health factors". The travel motivation variables got highest rate of “Competence”. The hedonism well-being variable is the highest benifit. SEM5.81 analysis showed that the intrapersonal constraints and relatedness significantly vitality and positive impacts well-being. Seniors got higher well-being while after who overcome the intrapersonal constraints and went abroad for backpacking. Seniors also got higher level of well-being after oversea backpacking with friends and family. It’s about relatedness feeling of sense of belonging. Conclusion: The results of overcome the seniors intrapersonal travel constraints and participate oversea backpacking for enhance the well-being deserve further investigation.
