碩士 / 國立政治大學 / 企業管理研究所(MBA學位學程) / 106 / This research offers a case study of control systems within a multinational firm. In particular, it discusses how Johnson controls and coordinates its foreign subsidiaries. Based on interviews with managers at Johnson, I find that Johnson manages its foreign subsidiaries through output control. Specifically, the incentive system is designed in a way that the goal of subsidiaries matches the goal of the goal of the whole enterprise. Johnson also uses monitoring mechanisms including frequent operation and financial reviews to minimize inappropriate behaviors of foreign subsidiary managers. To conclude, an enterprise that can clearly understand the environment of its industry and designs an appropriate management system is more likely to succeed.
