An Action Research on Marine Education Blended into Geographic Course of the Senior High School / 海洋教育融入高中地理教學之行動研究

碩士 / 國立中興大學 / 水土保持學系所 / 106 / Taiwan surrounded by the sea that creates a long coastline. The existence of the ocean has always closely related to people''s lives, and it should pay more attention to the cultivation of ocean literacy. Therefore, in 2008, marine education became an issue and integrated into various disciplines, hoping to improve the marine literacy of Taiwan people. Senior high school students should have certain abilities in marine literacy after studying through elementary school and junior high school. The purpose of this action research is to explore the implementation and effectiveness of blended marine issues into geographic course of the senior high school. Through questionnaire survey and teaching activities, we hope to understand students’ performances on cognition, attitudes and behaviors on marine issues.
In this study, 71 students from the 12-grade of senior high school as subjects, and relevant data were collected through questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Paired-Sample t-test, independent sample t-test, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The major findings in this study were as followed:
1. The implementation of teaching activities contributes to the improvement of knowledge test scores, but different teaching methods have different progress.
2. Students in the lower group have higher scores in the knowledge test after the teaching activities than those in the high group.
3. If students identify with human activities as causing changes in the coast, they will be more willing to take actions such as collecting relevant information and conveying knowledge of correct coastal changes.
Marine education is carried out in an integrated way, and its content structure is looser than regular curriculum. Appropriately, adjusting the teaching materials and teaching strategies in the teaching process will help solve the difficulties encountered in the teaching process. If we can develop a feasible marine education curriculum model through action research, it will contribute to the promotion of teacher professionalism.
