The Maneuvering Behind a Strategic Alliance: An Investigation of a Mediated Moderation Model of Trust and Cooperative Performance / 策略聯盟背後的運籌帷幄:信任與合作績效中介調節模型之探討

碩士 / 國立彰化師範大學 / 人力資源管理研究所 / 106 / The purpose of this research is to explore how two kinds of knowledge management behavior: knowledge exchange and knowledge protection, mediate the relationship between trust and alliance cooperative performance. In addition, two kinds of perceived risks: knowledge leakage and knowledge appropriation, were included as moderators to exam their moderating effect on the relationship between trust and knowledge management behavior.
This research conducted a survey on managers of Taiwan's listed companies who were responsible for strategic alliance affairs. A total of 80 effective questionnaires was obtained, and the theoretical framework was evaluated and verified by partial least squares method (PLS) and hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed that: (1) The relationship between goodwill trust and alliance cooperative performance can be mediated by knowledge exchange; (2) The relationship between competence trust and alliance cooperative performance can not only be mediated by knowledge exchange but also by knowledge protection; (3) Either the perceived risk of knowledge leakage or the perceived risk of knowledge appropriation does not moderate the relationship between trust and knowledge exchange and that between trust and knowledge protection. Based on the above results, this research suggests that firms should choose their alliance partners based on competence in order to improve alliance cooperative performance. In addition, when firms cooperate with alliance partners with better capabilities than themselves, they should adopt knowledge protection measures to reduce suspicions between the two parties and focus more on their own goals and common goals.
