Reproduction of Two Sucker Loaches and Early Morphological Development of Erromyzon kalotaenia (Cypriniformes: Gastromyzontidae) / 兩種腹吸鰍科魚種之繁殖及美斑近原吸鰍初期形態發育

碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 水產養殖研究所 / 106 / Erromyzon kalotaenia and Pseudogastromyzon fangi are two species under the family Gastromyzontidae, both distributed in southern China. The two species are facing threats such as habitat destructionand overexploitation. In order to establish techniques of artificial propagation, investigated and compared the reproduction of E. kalotaenia and P. fangi. This study recorded and observed the development of the pre-incubation embryos and the morphology from the post-hatching stage to the juvenile stage of E. kalotaenia. Meanwhile, the results from above were then compared with species of the Balitoridae by previous research. Egg membrane diameter of P. fangi is 3.25±0.06 (meanSD) mm. The yolk is yellow. The eggs are adhesive and demersal. Egg membrane diameter of E. kalotaenia is 2.03 ±0.04 mm. The yolk is white. The eggs are adhesive and demersal. At 24℃, the embryo developed into a larvae outside of the membrane at 45 hr 28 min. Newly hatched larvae were 4.90 ±0.14 mm in total length (TL) , with 37 pairs in sarcomere. At the third days post hatch (DPH), the appearance of melanocytes, formation of the mouth, anus and barbels were developed and the fish entered the preflexion larvae stage. At the fourth DPH, the larvae began to feed. At the sixth DPH, the tail fins emerged and the fish entered the flexion larvae stage. At the seventh DPH, the yolk is exhausted and the larva changed to exogenous nutrition. At the thirteenth DPH, the larvae began to have sucking ability and entered the postflexion larvae stage. At the 30 DPH, developments of fins completed and then entered the juvenile stage. The differences in embryonic and post- embryonic developmental characteristics of E. kalotaenia is similar to the Sinogastromyzon szechuanensis and Lepturichthys fimbriata may indicate that the relationship between Balitoridae and Gasstromyzontidae is far away, which may provide some evidence for the convergent evolution of the two families.
