Study of the Relationship between SMEs' Entrepreneurial Personality Traits and Overcoming the Tide and Difficulties in the Early Stage of Starting a Business / 中小企業創業家人格特質與創業初期低潮及困難之關連研究

碩士 / 國立高雄第一科技大學 / 創業管理碩士學位學程 / 106 / This research studies the characteristics of entrepreneurs and how they handles the difficulties and challenges faced during the start-up phase of theirs business. Most researches in the past mainly focus on entrepreneurs’ motivation, their behavior, strategies, and performance. Although these researches explain how to prepare both mentally and strategically before you open a new business, they overlook the inevitable problems, internal or caused by the market, a start-up will undergoing.
Therefore, in this study, we interviewed entrepreneurs, who have already been running their business successfully for more than 20 years, to investigate what kind of personal characteristics they have in common that helped them to overcome difficulties they had starting a new business.
The results of this study show: (1) The more out-ward looking of an entrepreneur the more he will actively seek help when he is faced with difficulties in his early days. (2) Entrepreneurs with more significant affinity traits are more likely to receive assistance when seeking external assistance. (3) Entrepreneurs with more prudent traits are more likely to deal with rationality in the face of difficulties in the early stages of starting a business. Through this study, readers can not only learn about what to do before they start a new business, but also they can prepare themselves in advance for the challenges they are about to face.
