The Study of Biological Toxicity of Wastewater in Science Technology Industry / 科技產業廢水生物毒性之研究

碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 環境工程研究所 / 106 / Due to production technology of science industries is fresh and ever changing, the pollutants in wastewaters of these industries are complicated vigorously in Taiwan. According to emission standard by Taiwan-EPA the composition of pollutants are mostly belonged to regulatory items and usually could not reflect the concentration of biological tolerance in water samples in rivers when they are emitted to water bodies. In this study these industrial wastewaters in discharging from several industrial plants in scientific parks were used as water samples of research object. The purpose of this work is to investigate the correlations between aquatic bio-toxicity and water quality of general items such as conductivity, SS, COD, ammonia nitrogen, and heavy metals for understanding the pollution sources of biological toxicity in wastewaters by using Micro-toxicity method.
The results from all tests showed that the toxicity of optoelectronics industry has a highest compared with other wastewaters of industries, and followed toxicity was the wastewater in precision- machinery industry. The toxicity of industry wastewaters in metal-processing and bio-technology were very low. The correlations were highly related between TU5min with TU15min in optoelectronics and precision-machinery industries, the coefficients were 0.76 and 0.98 respectively. We found detection times of Micro-toxicity could be shorter to 5 minutes. The coefficient was 0.95 which showed water quality of ammonia nitrogen had a high relation with TU15min, but moderate correlations with conductively and SS in wastewater in optoelectronics industry. The coefficient was 0.68 showed water quality of ammonia nitrogen was high related with TU15min in wastewater in precision- machinery industry.
From our findings of this work, the method of Micro-toxicity can be a fast way of detection for determining biological toxicity in wastewater for a saving time and a reference of early waring in water quality of short-term.
