Profitability analysis of spray-dried and freeze-dried astaxanthin powders / 製造冷凍乾燥與噴霧乾燥蝦紅素粉末的獲利性探討

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 食品科學系 / 106 / Astaxanthin is a strong antioxidant. In recent years, it has become a popular healthy food. The present study used SuperPro Designer software for process of the astaxanthin micro-capsulated powders. In this study, β-cyclodextrin or maltodextrin was used as the coating material for micro-capsulation. The powders were made by spray drying or freezing drying. The total capital investment of spray drying is NT$ 24,338,198, annual production is 29966.12 kg/yr. The total capital investment of freeze drying is NT$ 58,271,555, annual production is 30131.85 kg/yr. The product price was assumed 1.0 g/ entity to be NT$ 3 per tablet, and 1.5g/entity to be NT$ 6.per tablet. If the plant is located in China or Vietnam and the product is 1.5 g/ entity, it is profitable. If the plant is located in Taiwan, it selling 1.5 g/entity for NT$ 6 will lose money. Because the personnel cost is the most expensive in Taiwan. In Vietnam, it is the most profitable to produce spray-dried-maltodextrin and selling 1.0 g/entity for NT$ 6. Its’ return on investment is 74.32%, with a gross margin of 65.98%, an internal rate of return of 51.48% and a payback period of 1.35 years, a net present value of NT$ 686,165,927. Because the electricity fee and personnel cost are the lowest in Vietnam.
