Habitat selection and preferences of the Xenograpsus testudinatus at shallow hydrothermal ventin Kueishantao Island, Taiwan / 臺灣龜山島淺海熱泉區烏龜怪方蟹的棲地選擇及偏好

A shallow hydrothermal vent (HV) area in the East Kueishantao Island where the habitat of benthic crabs Xenograpsus testudinatus with high density of population. The aim of this study was to investigate the selection preferences of HV crab X. testudinatus, including: (1) biological factors and (2) environmental factors.With the experimental condition providing in the present studied the results reveal that X. testudinatus without fidelity to hydrothermal vents environment. There were no significant differences in environmental factors. But it still relies on the protection of the hydrothermal vents environment for deterring predators.
