Seasonal variations of marine environment and primary production in the Changyun Rise of the Taiwan Strait. / 雲彰隆起海域海洋環境與基礎生產力的季節性變化

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境與生態研究所 / 106 / In order to understand how development of offshore wind turbines effects on marine ecosystem in the Changyun Rise (CYR) of the Taiwan Strait, four seasonal cruises in 2017 were conducted by R/V Ocean Researcher 2. In this study, seasonal variations of marine environment and primary production were reported before the construction of offshore wind turbines. In winter, CYR was occupied by the mixed water between southward mixed China Coastal water which is nutrient-laden and brackish and northward Kuroshio branch water which is the nutrient-devoid and saline. Higher N/P ratio (~20.4) but normal Si/N ratio (~1.2) were found in these waters. It is also noted that higher concentration of phosphate were found in turbid waters (light transmission less than 60%). In spring, CYR was occupied by the nutrient-devoid and saline northward Kuroshio branch water. In summer and autumn, CYR were both occupied by the nutrient-devoid and less saline northward South China Sea water. Primary production ranged from 65 to 234, 108 to 383, 331 to 985 and 175 to 472 mgC m-2 d-1 in winter, spring, summer and autumn, respectively. The primary production in winter was very low because of low incident solar irradiance and strong vertical mixing. Although primary productions were slighter higher in spring and autumn than in winter under higher solar irradiance, the values were still low due to lack of nutrients. In summer, highest primary production was found under highest incident solar irradiance but nutrient depleted condition. It is suggested the highest primary production was supported by limited nutrients supplied from the upwelling of Penghu Channel and Taiwan Bank enhanced by Typhoon ROKE and NESAT.
