Age and growth of snubnose pompano, Trachinotus blochii in the waters off Taiwan / 台灣周邊海域布氏鯧鰺年齡與成長研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 環境生物與漁業科學學系 / 106 / The snubnose pompano (Thachinotus blochii) is an economically important fish for the aquaculture of Central and Southern Taiwan. Meanwhile, it had been one of many target fish species of stock enhancement programs by the government in Taiwan for many years. This study attempts to estimate the age and growth of snubnose pompano in the waters off Taiwan. A total of 731 specimens were collected in Miaoli, Chiayi and Taitung from October, 2015 to October 2017 (8.4-54.8 cm FL). The relationship of total length (TL) and fork length (FL) were estimated to be TL = 1.2122FL + 0.4645, (n=731, R2=0.9873). This study estimate the age and growth of T. blochii by using otolith. The relationship of fork length and otolith length (OL) were estimated to be FL = 5.9146OL–7.0205,(n=209,R2=0.8094). The growth ring was found to from once per year, during December and February next year. Based on edge analysis the rings were counted from 0 to 7. von Bertalanffy growth function best fit observed length at age based on AICc (Akaike’s information criterion). The growth parameters of von Bertalanffy growth function were estimated as followings: Lt = 90.20(1-e-0.121(t+1.1651)), (n=369).
