Investigation on Application of LED Lamps in Marine Leisure and Tourism Industry-with the example of a Passenger Vessel / 應用LED燈具於海洋休閒觀光產業之研究-以客船為例

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 輪機工程學系 / 106 / In recent years, since the relevant laws and regulations regarding entertainment fishery have been considerably relaxed, the northeast coast of Taiwan has the largest number of sea-fishing boats and the most thriving fishing industry. The dinghy lighting for sightseeing tour can be divided into above water-surface lighting, underwater lighting, interior lighting of ships and decorative lighting. The lighting on sea water is required to have a wide range of illumination, while the lighting into underwater needs deep penetration through sea water. Traditional ship-lighting lamps are mainly of halogen or fluorescent lamps. Due to global trends towards improving energy efficiency of lighting system, protecting international environment, and reducing greenhouse-effect gases such as CO2, those high energy-consumption lighting equipment has gradually been replaced by LED lamps. However, the application of LED lamps is still rather limited in the marine leisure tourism probably because of the harsh operating conditions of marine vessels. Following with fast technical innovation and increasingly benefit to cost ratio of LED lamps, promising application prospects of LED lamps in the marine tourism industry are expected. Traditional lamps were replaced with LED lamps in the cabin and walkway areas in the passenger ship of Tema Star managed by Shin Hwa Navigation Co., Ltd. The improvement of illumination and lighting efficiency before and after the replacement were onboard tested and compared. The experimental results show that the lighting performance has been significantly improved to reach illuminance over 120 lm/W and the performance of light color rendering up to 80. The fuel consumption was reduced by 75% and the crews’ eyes were not harmed by too much blue light as well after the replacement of 100W LED lamps. Therefore, marine vessels such as passenger ships are suggested to install LED lamps which are of energy-saving and carbon-reducing devices to improve the energy efficiency and safety extent of traditional neon lights, and to increase the benefits of leisure-sightseeing cruise ships. In addition, marine leisure ships such as passenger ships or cruise ships could be decorated with LED lamps of various colors to enhance the sightseeing and leisure atmosphere and broaden the future development of marine tourism industry.
