Especially since the beginning of the new century, widely adapted information technology has been enabling a rapid development of IT industry. The demand is getting higher and higher.
As a result, Computer City, which sells notebook computers, DIY assembly machines, digital cameras, etc., has been formed. In the past two decades, the computer cities across the country have grown aggressively. However, with the rising e-commerce and the market becoming saturated, computer cities have been gradually declining. The earliest players such as Hailong and Dinghao in Beijing's Zhongguancun,Buynow in the national chain, the Pacific Ocean and Qianggao are seen declining in terms of both store traffic and transaction. Coupled with operational issues, product quality and service level of Computer City itself, it is difficult to meet the new demands of the market which resulted it facing a development crisis. Therefore, in order to be able to solve the current problems and obtain new developments, the transformation of Computer City is imminent.
Based on the above points, this article takes the Buynow Shanghai store as the research object, through research and analysis of the transformation mode and practice of the computer city, the SWOT analysis methodology and Potter's five-force analysis model will be used to analyze the status quo. Identify transformation strategies and innovations that can be used as a reference for the transformation of other computer cities.
